What is An Eagle
Discipleship School?

Eagle Discipleship School (EDS) is a program to train Christians devoted to God in this era to develop wholesome characters, providing biblical principles in life, training in fostering an intimate relationship with God, living transformed lives as disciples of Jesus Christ, and effectively spreading the message of Jesus to all people.

This program is suitable for students, young adults, housewives, jobholders, or anyone who can attend the class on their weekends.
(Note: EDS runs in Korean Language)

What are the goals?

  • Foster individual growth in relationships with God.
  • Bring about personal character transformation for each student.
  • Instill a vision for global evangelism in students and entrust them with it.
  • Help understand the fundamental spirit of YWAM, calling, and provide opportunities for ministry involvement.

How do we do that?

  • Manifest Christ-like characters in students’ lives (through humility, generosity, confessing and repenting of sin, serving with love and joy, etc.).
  • Enable students to achieve intimacy with God (through daily devotion, intercessory prayer, and meditation on the Word).
  • Entrust students with their lives for global evangelism (opportunities to share the Gospel with the unsaved and hear God’s heart and plans for the world).
  • Partner with YWAM or other mission organizations or local churches to fulfill this calling or at least encourage and pray for others involved in missions.

The Curriculum

The EDS provides training in the following areas to achieve its objectives:
  • Relationship with God: Understanding God’s will and character, hearing God’s voice, developing a life of dedication.
  • Relationship with self and others: Personal character development (forgiveness and acceptance), discovering one’s gifts and responsibilities, service, principles for maintaining healthy relationships.
  • Relationship with the Bible: Meditation and application of scripture - developing a lifestyle consistent with personal devotion.
  • Relationship with the world: Reaching the lost, sharing one’s faith, cross-cultural evangelism, reaching unreached peoples, applying the Gospel to societal needs.
  • Relationship with the Church: Dedication, cooperation - understanding the complementary roles of local churches and missionary organizations.
  • Standing and identity as Christians against adversaries: Resisting temptation, intercessory prayer, spiritual warfare.
  • International YWAM and personal orientation: Overlapping missions of evangelism, training, relief, basic spirit, and missionary opportunities.

The Foundation of The Training

  • The EDS aims for profound restoration in relationships with oneself, God, and others. Sensitivity to the movement of the Holy Spirit makes this possible. It involves allowing God into individual lives, practicing openness and brokenness, maintaining such attitudes from the beginning to the end of the school to become a lifestyle.
  • The EDS is not just a school for acquiring knowledge but for gaining wisdom. The Logos Word should be applied to life through the Rhema Word. Patience in waiting on God is emphasized for application, seeking to develop new habits and characters through daily application of principles learned.
  • The EDS focuses on building deep relationships with other Christians. God uses various relationships and situations in communal living as the most significant tools for transforming individuals. The diversity within the Christ’s body in the EDS community allows opportunities to reconcile difficult relationships, mature them, and experience the process of dealing with past buried sins, anger, self-pity, and bitter roots that surface in unavoidable situations.
  • The training within the EDS aims to quickly establish people dedicated to God as strong soldiers of God. Through 20 weeks of communal living and effective academic courses, individuals grow, and these opportunities lead them to higher levels, transforming them to reflect responsibility and the character of God.
  • The EDS provides opportunities to experience God in new ways that individuals might not have encountered before. Learning about God’s sovereignty through His miraculous deeds, experiencing the impossible achieved through faith, especially in evangelism, allows individuals to experience God’s living presence and power.
  • Through groups within the EDS, one learns the true discipleship path. Jesus applied His teachings among groups of 3, 12, 70, 120, and 500, allowing them to learn and grow. Growth group activities teach discipleship deeply through mentorship and counseling between students.
